Remote Learning

At St Thomas a Becket Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that learning continues effectively for all pupils in the event of remote education being required. Our remote education is delivered using Google Classroom, which provides a secure platform for pupils to access lessons, resources, and feedback from their teachers.

What pupils can expect:

  • Daily learning activities will be provided in line with the planned curriculum.

  • A mix of live teaching, pre-recorded lessons, and independent learning tasks will be set.

  • Clear instructions will be given for each task, with deadlines for submission.

  • Teachers will monitor engagement and provide feedback on work submitted.

Accessing remote education:

  • Pupils will use their school-issued login details to access Google Classroom.

  • Support is available for parents and pupils who experience technical difficulties. Please contact [insert school contact/email] for assistance.

Support for pupils with additional needs:
We are mindful of the different needs of pupils, including those with SEND, and will make reasonable adjustments to ensure all children can access learning at home.

Duration and expectations:

  • Remote education will reflect the same number of hours as pupils would receive in school, as set out in DfE expectations.

  • Primary-aged pupils will be provided with 3–4 hours of learning per day.

  • Secondary-aged pupils will be provided with 4–5 hours of learning per day.

Parental role:
We ask parents and carers to support their children by providing an appropriate space for learning and encouraging them to follow the daily schedule.
